Nala’s Notes
Dear Friends,
Apparently some of our longtime hens are slowing down on egg production. Management calls this a production issue. I call it retirement.
For the record, none of our ladies will ever be eaten. Instead, Mom is creating The Golden Girls Retirement Home, complete with individually decorated rooms and family photos of their offspring. Yes, the eggs.
She also wants a family tree painted on the side of the coop called The Tree of Life. I have decided not to point out the obvious genealogical complications.
Apparently retirement activities are required too.
Peckleball: Pickleball for chickens. I assume the paddles are tiny.
Coop Canasta: Cards, gossip and accusations of cheating after dark.
Mealworm Mahjong: Traditional Mahjong, except apparently the stakes are mealworms.
Chicken Scratch: Part lottery, part digging competition. Nobody has explained the rules to me.
At this point, I’m simply taking notes.
This is what happens when you hand the keys to Mom, who is apparently a three-year-old when chickens are involved. Pictures coming soon. You’re going to need proof.
Until next month,
Nala, Director of Logistics
