There’s a shift happening at Sunnyside Up Farm. The mornings are cooler. The light is changing. The garden is beginning to slow down, and suddenly there are little signs of fall everywhere we look.

There is something about fall that naturally draws us inward. Maybe it’s the earlier sunsets or the return to quieter evenings at home.

October has arrived, which means the humans have begun decorating for a season I personally consider to be rather ordinary.

The seasons are beginning to change here in Central Oregon giving us the first hints of fall.

Apparently some of our longtime hens are slowing down on egg production. Management calls this a production issue. I call it retirement.

Mom keeps telling everyone that farm life is peaceful. I’d like to officially report that this is only partially true.

One of the greatest surprises at Sunnyside Up has been discovering just how many talented people live in our community.

If someone had asked me a year ago what Sunnyside Up was, I probably would have smiled and said, “It’s our little honor-system farmstand.” Today, my answer is a little different. 

Every walk around the farm reminds us that nature works on its own perfect timetable.
