Nala’s Notes

Dear Friends,

October has arrived, which means the humans have begun decorating for a season I personally consider to be rather ordinary. Black cats? Excellent. Things lurking in the dark? Standard operating procedure. Staring silently into an empty corner of the room until a human becomes uncomfortable? Tuesday.

Apparently, however, humans require pumpkins, skeletons, candles and something called a “simmer pot” to properly appreciate the season. Mom and Shiv have been putting pots of oranges, apples, cinnamon, cloves and bay leaves on the stove and calling it a fall ritual. I inspected the situation personally.

No chicken. No tuna. Not even a respectable amount of butter. I fail to understand the excitement.

I have also been informed that Halloween is approaching and that black cats are considered especially spooky this time of year. As a Maine Coon, I would like it noted that I am not spooky. I am majestic. There is a difference.

Meanwhile, the chickens continue wandering around outside completely unaware that decorative versions of themselves would sell very well at HomeGoods. I’ve suggested tiny witch hats. Management has stopped taking my suggestions.

So, as Sunnyside Up settles into fall, I will continue overseeing logistics, inspecting boxes, supervising deliveries and staring into darkened rooms for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Probably.

Until next month,
Nala, Director of Logistics & Seasonal Paranormal Activity
